Emerald Coast ChapterWe are the beach people. The surfers, paddle boarders, kayakers, fishermen, swimmers, beach runners, and walkers. We are activists who want to protect the ocean environment, and our access to it! The ocean and beaches are our playground! More Details
Join us on Navarre Beach Sunday May 22nd at 7pm. We’ll meet in the pier parking lot and then head to the beach to dig trenches and spot for oil under UV light. We could really use your help and you will be contributing to important research. (Use our contact link at the top of the page to let us know you will be participating, that way if the time or location changes, we’ll be able to let you know! )
Many of you may remember Margo Pellegrino for her paddle from Miami to Maine a couple of years ago to raise awareness for our oceans. Well she is at it again…along the entire Jersey coastline. She is traveling with a Stand Up Paddle Board this time. Why is this news for us you ask….She is doing this to help the Emerald Coast Chapter raise funds to continue the oil testing in the gulf.

Chuck Barnes, local Surfrider member, has been taking great pains to continue to update us on that status of the gulf coast beaches and waters since the spill. As you will see from his recent posting oil continues to wash ashore. Please take a moment to follow his blog: http://whatsupwiththegulf.blogspot.com/2011/05/bp-contractor-attempting-to-remove.html
